The 4th of July is Sunday, and here at Just Grapes, that means showcasing some of our top American wines so you can add more “fireworks” to your holiday get-togethers!
Since this is the first 4th in a new decade, we’re featuring the latest American bottles to match. Here are a couple of our favorites, hot off the (grape) presses:
NV Fess Parker Frontier Red Lot 92, Red Blend, California [$11.99]
Best American Wines (Under $15) Food & Wine Magazine
Aromas of strawberry, chocolate, smoke, leather, pepper & spice will be found on the nose. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum, raspberry and dried herbs will be savored. Enjoy Frontier Red with everyday cuisine, backyard BBQ’s or simply by itself. Composition: 57% Syrah, 14% Cinsault, 8% Grenache, 7% Gamay, 3% Souzao, 3% Touriga Nacional, 2% Tinta Cao, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Mourvedre, 2% Alvarelhao.
2008 Cade Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, California [$23.19]
The 2008 vintage is a bit richer and denser than past vintages. Enticing aromas of green melon, wet stones, cantaloupe, cut grass and vanilla bean are followed on the palate with flavors of guava, rose petal, gooseberry and vanilla. The 7% Semillon fleshes out the mid palate and adds a nice layer to the finish.
